Dennis J. Volpe, M.S., M.A., is a Principal at the Leadership Research Institute (LRI) who specializes in leadership development, executive coaching, and Veteran Awareness for leaders in governmental and non-governmental agencies, manufacturing companies, staffing services, financial services, small businesses, non-profit organizations, local governments, educational institutions, high school and collegiate athletes, and entrepreneurs.

Dennis has over twenty years of leadership and operational experience as a career Naval Officer to include Command at Sea; multiple overseas deployments to include operations in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION OCEAN SHIELD and OPERATION ACTIVE ENDEAVOR; an operational planner tour in Afghanistan; several years as a Leadership instructor, Leadership Course Coordinator, and Ethics Facilitator at the United States Naval Academy; and was Director of Future Operations for naval activities in Central and South America. During his career, Dennis received multiple personal and campaign awards as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Association Leadership Award for superior leadership by his peers as well as the Arleigh Burke Award for deployed Operational Excellence.

Dennis earned his Masters of Science in Leadership and Human Resource Development from the Naval Postgraduate School and his Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval Command and Staff College. Dennis has a sub-specialty in counter-insurgency operations and is a certified and proven strategic and operational planner. Dennis is also a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Executive Leadership Course and is certified to administer a variety of assessments, including Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator, Extended DISC, and Emotional Intelligence (EQ-I) 2.0.

Dennis has a track record of community involvement including serving as the Jacksonville-area Chapter Captain and as a Southeast Region Leadership Fellow for Team Red, White, and Blue (RWB) – a national Veteran-service non-profit committed to enriching the lives of America’s Veterans by connecting them to their local communities through physical activity and social interaction. Dennis is also a volunteer with Team Rubicon – a national Veteran-service non-profit designed to unite the skills and experiences of military Veterans with first responders to rapid deploy emergency response teams.

Dennis is an avid triathlete, truly enjoys the outdoors, and is a passionate college Lacrosse and Rugby fan. Dennis and his wife, Amanda, live in Jacksonville, Florida with their dog, Nimitz.
